Just had a visit with a wounded cook from Auke Bay's apparently famous "Hot Bite" (she got a speck in her eye...no problem). She told me she was recently tasked to prepare a plate of halibut cheeks and selected chowders for Alton Brown as he made his way through Southeast Alaska for a story on Alaskan Seafood. No cameras in evidence but an editor from Food Network accompanied him, so some verbal references and printed allusions my be forthcoming in his future work. Pay attention, we could be famous!

Hot Bite is the notorius/famous little restaurant that operates seasonally at the Auke Bay Boat Launch. Locally well known for their burgers and milk shakes (ask Sandlin), they also make some fish items like Halibut cheeks...

Yes, I did see Alton Brown in the State Office Building on May 21. I was going to a meeting and as I got off the elevator there he was. He was with two women, one with a clipboard. I expect they were his "handlers".
