Your Profile, Advanced Degree

It is that time of year when people start graduating. Kelsey and I had synchronized starts, which also means that all my friends who went on to medical school after we all graduated are getting their final white coat and fancy new titles. My facebook news feed is overrun with the run up and work down for each of these ceremonies. I am happy for them, everyone, because I am acutely aware of how much time and effort they've put in. And it's exciting to watch Kelsey's process of getting a job (that sounds terrifying), and make the move to a real life. And Kelsey's friends are graduating too! And Pittsburgh is overrun with mortarboard hats right now. Being done with school? How awesome is THAT!

But, man, it makes me want to graduate...

Well, just remember that all those med students are moving on to an only slightly more sophisticated form of academic drudgery, the internship and residency. They are awash in debt, measured in serious 6-figures. And while they have knocked of another title, they are still years away from independent work and meaningful income. You're doing fine and will get your title soon enough without a life altering indebtedness to twist your plans and goals. We are always very proud of you. Love MomanDad
