Life at work or lab getting a bit much? You may already be aware of this, but I have a suggestion.
Go to Google, type in "Susan Boyle you tube" and join in the planetwide celebration of a deeply inspiring event.
I never watch American Idol, precisely because its huge popularity is partly based on the mockery and ridicule it heaps on the many people in the early rounds whose delusions of talent are overwhelmed by their burning desire to be famous and just . . . be on TV.
I had heard about this video fleetingly, but saw it at a party on Sunday. If you haven't seen, don't let me spoil it for you . . . just watch and see what you think. I'll come back tomorrow and tell you how it affected me.

So, Bart, where you been?? I must have watched it 30 times if I did once. I loved watching the judges's jaws drop, the eyebrows fly up, the absolute surprise that her first few bars elicited. She couldn't have chosen a better song, like it was the soundtrack to that very moment. I'm not sure why it made me feel so good. The fairy tale quality of the moment, the comeuppance of the the cynical judges everywhere in the audience, the visual irony of her sound and her appearence, the instantneous nature of her success right there on stage. Yeah, I loved it too....Gordie
I second what Dad said- I like that sort of incredible moment of triumph that you rarely experience outside the Olympics.
This also serves as an interesting case study for the role of YouTube in setting your news priorities...
